Jo & Simon – Tetbury Wedding Gloucestershire

Vintage Wedding Marquee Photography Miranda Stuart

We met Jo and Simon way back. They live in a tiny village with only a church and not even a pub. So tiny that they seemed to know everyone on first-name terms.

This meant they were bound to have a very personal style of wedding.  And we were not wrong.

Jo had arranged a beautiful, vintage marquee, for the reception in the grounds of the local manor house following a service in the pretty and equally tiny church.  With an unbelievably tiny vestry for the signing of the register.

So it was with some disappointment that everyone awoke to a frightful weather forecast.  A forecast which proved all too accurate as the ceremony time drew near. It was simply cats and dogs.

And Jo’s transport to the church was the, only slightly-enclosed, wagon pulled by a vintage (naturally) tractor. Which she and her father gallantly tried to hide in as the trailer was drawn towards the church at a leisurely pace in the rain.

It hammered it down during the ceremony.

But amazingly, and right on cue, a brilliant flash of blue sky appeared as they signed the register.

By the time the formalities were over, B&G had boarded, motored, and decanted again from the tractor & trailer, the sun was shining gloriously as the fluffy summer clouds smiled down of everybody.

So, to start the photographic ball rolling, what do you think was going on with this little chap?…

Juliette & Kieran – Tolpuddle, Dorset wedding photography

Dorset WeddingOctober has been quite a mixed bag weather-wise, so Juliette & Kieran were very fortunate to have so much sunshine for their wedding day.

The ceremony was held in the village church in Tolpuddle, not far from where Juliette grew up. The bride travelled there in an immaculately restored 1932 MG.  What a car!  Have I ever mentioned that I love photographing classic cars? 🙂 That’s another one to tick off my list…

Following the ceremony and after a number of family shots, we did the first of two couple-shoots for Juliette & Kieran before leaving for the wedding breakfast.

The reception was a 45-minute drive away, being held at The Eastbury Hotel in Sherbourne.

Guests had travelled from right across the UK and even from Canada.  Following the speeches, they were all treated to a short, live action video all about Kieran – what can we say?

The full galleries can be seen HERE. You’ll need the password so check the hint if you’re unsure.

Oh, and what very nice food!

Wedding – Philippa & Mike, Fretherne, Gloucester

FretherneSome wedding photography commissions appear completely out-of-the-blue.

Philippa & Mike’s was one such booking.

Just 10 days before their wedding, we got a call from Philippa explaining they had been determined not to have any photography until it dawned on them that actually, they really did want some…

Anyway, we were pleased to oblige and enjoyed a beautifully sunshine & showers September day in their company at Fretherne Church near Frampton-on-Severn and the reception at their delightful home afterwards.

If you were a guest at the wedding, the full set of photographs can be seen HERE.  You will need a password, but you should know it anyway.

Emily & Simon Wedding Day Bartholomew Barn

Barn WeddingEmily and Simon are a very private couple who honoured us by asking that we photograph their wedding day in East Sussex in mid April.

We had met them last year to chat about their plans and it soon became clear that they new exactly what they were after – a set of photographs which would document their wedding and allow them to have a beautiful album created which showed them everything they wanted to remember about their family and friends.

Married at St Peters church in Chailey, their ceremony was led by a family friend, so was amongst the most personal of services. After the ceremony their friends had a chance to refresh themselves with some nibbles and a cup of tea in the village hall on the green before travelling to the reception, which was almost an hour away in the idyllic Bartholomew Barn in Kirdford, near Petworth.

Now a wedding story isn’t complete unless we give you the weather report. So, a day which had started with torrential overnight rain and blustery conditions gave way to calmer and drier interludes through the morning. Indeed the drive to Bartholomew Barn enjoyed sporadic sunshine and several times we wished we could have stopped and taken the group shots en-route.

Parking in the field by the barn proved to be short-sighted. Minutes after the arrival of everyone, the heavens opened and an almighty and persistent downpour began. Thankfully the couple had the foresight to have a lovely Moroccan style marquee complete with sofas and tables and a two-piece jazz group playing, which served as a refuge from the Glastonbury style mud-fest which threatened outside.

Respecting their privacy, we are pleased to show a single photo below from their day – and we haven’t even mentioned the ‘fishing game’!

Their full set of photos are all in password protected galleries HERE and the details are on the card you received at the reception or can be obtained from Emily & Simon.
