Finally the sun has decided to shine properly this summer. And its only September!
The glorious arrival of warm weather and blue skies couldn’t have come a moment too soon for the wedding of Lucy and Nick at the Stonehouse Court Hotel.
They had a lot going on with their wedding.
Their plans included nice cars for the lads to arrive at the church in style. But that was nothing to what Lucy would arrive in. Leaving her parents home, it was about a 15 minute trot from the church in Eastington, Gloucestershire.
Yes, we said trot , as Lucy would be travelling in a pony and trap, or possibly horse and open carriage. Complete with two coach-women and a coach-man.
Meanwhile, at the church, a chat with the Vicar, Michael, revealed that this was the most helpful vicar ever! Michael understood why couples want photographs of their ceremony. And allowed us to get some great photos. It was so refreshing to feel we were allies in making their day special.
And whilst they signed the register Ed Goulding sang and accompanied himself on guitar.
The surprises continued after the ceremony. A lovely red double-decker bus allowed guests to board for the journey to the Hotel. Both driver and ticket collector were just as friendly as the pony & trap drivers. And this unusual form of transport made for some memorable photos.
By this point we were out of breath.
Fast-forward to Stonehouse Court Hotel and the kids were treated to a bouncy castle whilst guests enjoyed a Pims or two.
And what about the first dance? Well, Nick says he hates dancing. Which can be a bit of a problem. But after beginning in the standard drape-our-arms-around-each-other-and-just-shuffle-around-the-floor move, the music changed and Lucy and Nick began an amazing routine just for their guests. Just like Fred & Ginger. In case you didn’t know, Lucy is a dance teacher.
Did we mention the day was full of surprises?
As soon as they’d finished, and much to their surprise, Lucy’s brother asked the DJ to play another track and began himself to dance. Only to be joined flash-mob style by the bridesmaids, ushers and even Lucy’s parents in another cool routine.
So here’s a taster of their days photography. Feel free to comment at the bottom of this page.
