Wendy and Jon live over the far side of the country near Ipswich. But since Jon originates from the Neath area, it wasn’t much of a surprise that they decided to marry in the glorious countryside of the Brecon Beacons.
As we drove through the town making our way to the local registry office, it was thrilling to see school children from miles around thronging the streets and cheering and waving flags – this was going to be a wedding to remember.
Oh no! My mistake , it was to do with a national cycle race instead!
Anyway, back to the happy couple – Wendy wore a ’60s style short dress in cream with a central gold inset. Her hair was set in a beehive, and her shoes were high cream wedges with a similar cream and gold inset to the dress.
John wore a morning suit and they had invited just 5 guests – both sets of parents and Jon’s sister. Their Reception was going to be an intimate dinner for 7 at the lovely Nant Ddu Lodge, about 10 miles south of Brecon. This was where we took many of the photographs and their parents made us feel that we were part of the family too. They were great fun and after the initial shocked expression when we asked them to run across the lawn together in a ‘Sound of music’ kind of way, they then set about the confetti shots with some gusto.
This couple had two of the happiest smiles we have had the priviledge of photographing this year. They were genuinely ecstatic to be getting married in such stunning country and to be sharing their day with their very nearest and dearest.
…and the heather at the highest point of the A470 was to die for…
