Danni & Sam – Egypt Mill Wedding

Egypt Mill WeddingIts been a while since we last shot at Egypt Mill – it goes like that in the wedding business – you shoot a location quite frequently then it goes a bit quiet there and you find another venue gets busy.

Anyway, it was a beautiful warm March day when we met up for a pre-wedding chat and walk around at Egypt Mill.

By the day of the wedding the weather had cooled just slightly, but the intervening weeks had allowed a fair few of the flower borders to come into bloom. Some trees too had come into blossom and the day remained dry – always a big relief to the bride-and-groom.

The whole event was held in the Mill, with its low oak-beamed ceilings. Thankfully my own home has decidedly low ceilings and doorways, so bobbing my head up and down like a chicken is second nature to me and I avoided a nasty bump to the head šŸ™‚

A few shots in a simple black and white style can be seen below, but for family and friends a password protected set of galleries can be seen HERE.

Hepzi & Jonathan – Sneakpeek

We shot the last wedding of 2012 yesterday at the Wyck Hill House Hotel near Bourton on the Water in Gloucestershire.Ā  After all the rain earlier in the week, the sun shone brilliantly for a couple of minutes in the late afternoon, so we thought you’d like to see a quick sneakpeek of Hepzi with her two little bridesmaids.

More photos will be online afterĀ  Jonathan & Hepzi return from their honeymoon.

Charlotte & Richard – Mercure Grange, Bristol Wedding

Mercure Grange Hotel, BristolCharlotte & Richard were having a late autumn Bristol wedding at the Mercure Grange Hotel, not far from Winterbourne.

When we say late autumn, we mean middle of November, way past the end of British Summertime. And they had bravely decided to have a 4pm wedding on a day where the sunset would be at 4:15pm.

Virtually the whole of November has proved to be very, very soggy. And the day before the wedding stayed true to form. It was very, very, very soggy. So imagine our surprise and not a little relief when Saturday turned out to be one of those gorgeous clear-blue-sky days that you occassionally enjoy as a reward for living in possibly the wettest country in the northern hemisphere.

Blue-sky-days mean that twilight lasts longer. But not for hours, so we managed a few outdoor group shots before the light was completely gone.

The rest were all taken inside the Mercure Grange, which had a nice mix of contemporary with a dash of much older character. Another type of character called ‘Burne’ stood to attention in the entrance hall – he turned out to be an ancient suit of armour.

Charlotte and Richard were great and Charlottes’ nerves quickly dissipated when she laid eyes on Richard at the ceremony. Charlotte was given away by her mum, Mary, who had asked us to shoot her daughters wedding day.

And it turned out that the page boy and bridesmaid were going professional later this year, since they had already done this job 2 or 3 times in recent months and had at least 2 more engagements in the near future!

Enjoy this small set and feel free to comment using the box below the last photo.

Moon Rising

Photo of the WeekĀ In late spring a friend lent me a low-powered celestial telescope.

We had been invited a month or so before to a meeting of an astronomy club in Cheltenham and had not only seen some of the moons of Jupiter, but even had a spectacular shooting star zoom and explode almost overhead.

Its not often you get the full works.

Anyway, fired up with renewed enthusiasm, I was determined to see what I could capture.

The moon seemed an obvious choice, and a heath-robinson idea paid off.

I just held the camera near the eyepiece and after a few attempts, there was the moon.

Big.

And Beautiful.
